UR Medicine | Noyes Health is pleased to announces the installation in its imaging department at Noyes Memorial Hospital of new scanning technology that combines the latest advancements in MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) with a more comfortable patient experience.
“We are very excited about this new MRI as studies have shown significant patient satisfaction for those who may suffer claustrophobia,” explains Sanjiv Virdee, UR Medicine’s Department of Imaging Southern Region Section Chief. “It’s faster and has a wider bore, creating an improved patient experience, particularly for those who don’t like tight spaces.”
“This new scanner reflects the most recent advancements in MRI technology, allowing us to continue to provide state-of-the-art patient care in our community,” says Noyes’ Senior Director of Operations Michael Donegan. “Combining new technology with improved comforts for the patient experience is a win-win, providing the physician with superior exam results and the patient with a less stressful visit. The patients will be able to listen to music, on a larger couch in a larger bore scanner.”
Appointments for the new MRI service will be available Monday through Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and for emergent cases at other times.
UR Medicine | Noyes Health’s current imaging services also include digital X-ray, CT (often called CAT scan), DEXA (bone densitometry), Ultrasound, digital Mammography, as well as image-guided interventional procedures.
In December, Noyes will begin offering enhanced nuclear medicine capability, and in March 2021, UR Medicine | Noyes Health expects to open the new E. Michael Saunders Imaging Services, with expanded services including PET-CT scanner and a new Interventional Radiology Suite.
