DANSVILLE — Noyes Hospital chef Chris Kriner won the national Culinary Creation Contest for his third year in a row. The contest, sponsored by Premier Inc., is one of the most prestigious in the country and has drawn a lot of attention to Chef Kriner and Noyes Health these past three years.
The hospital said they are proud to have him as one of their staff and sometimes wonder why he isn’t still cooking in five-star restaurants like he used to, whipping up dishes for U.S. Presidents, and celebrities like Tiger Woods and Jay Leno.
“I have kids now, and Noyes allows me to have a normal work schedule, which is unheard of in the restaurant business,” said Kriner. “I basically have a life, which is better than any wacky restaurant schedule. I can’t say enough about Noyes and what they have allowed me to do.”
Kriner speaks of his past honors with great pride. He says in 1999 he was invited to cook with his favorite mentor, Executive Chef Jeff Beason, alongside the highly accomplished Ed Walsh, at the James Beard House in New York City. Said Kriner, “That’s like a musician being asked to play at the philharmonic.”
After graduating from Brockport High School, Kriner attended Spencerport Vocational Baking School (WE-MO-CO) and Paul Smiths College, earning too many honors and accomplishments to list. He previously worked at incredibly prestigious restaurants like Relais & Châteaux’s “Lake Placid Lodge,” of which there are only 500 in the world, and Point Hilton Resorts in Phoenix, AZ.
You can experience Chef Kriner’s world-class cooking yourself in the café at Noyes Health. The café is open to the public for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Those interested can call 585-335-6001.
