In recognition of her wound care expertise, Noyes Health podiatrist Jean Archer-Colella, DPM, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the American College of Clinical Wound Specialists (ACCWS). Her term begins on January 1, 2021 and lasts for three years.
Founded in 2005, the ACCWS national and international membership provides ongoing wound care education to and support of credentialed wound care providers of all disciplines, empowering them to provide their patients with the most up-to-date, evidence-based wound care. The overall goal is to improve the public’s health by practicing and encouraging evidence-based wound care management to promote healing.“Dr. Archer-Colella understands that wound care and healing requires an inter-disciplinary approach and advocates for it every day on behalf of her patients,” says Karen Brown BSN, RN, CWS, FACCWS,
Chairwoman Board of Directors ACCWS, “We are grateful for her willingness to serve and share her expertise.”
“I keep up with the latest wound care techniques to be able to best treat my patients,” says Dr. Archer-
Colella, “I am eager to take advantage of the additional opportunities which ACCWS Board membership will provide to learn from my colleagues and share best practices and new ideas.”
“As a podiatrist, I see many diabetic patients with wounds on the bottoms of their feet that require significant attention to heal,” she explains, “Healing can only be possible by addressing the underlying health issues, and that requires the team approach I advocate for every day. I’m grateful to be a part of the UR Medicine system which allows my patients to have increased, coordinated access to other specialists here in Dansville and in Rochester, whether nutritionists, endocrinologists, or neurologists.”
Dr. Archer-Colella is part of Genesee Regional Orthopedics, Noyes Health’s orthopedic team, and sees patients and performs surgeries at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.
