LIVINGSTON COUNTY — The Livingston County Board of Elections has been hard at work preparing 17 different ballots for this upcoming Nov. 5th vote.
In our community the big race is going to be the Sheriff’s race. Tom Dougherty will be on the Republican line and his oponent, Jim Sczczesniak, will be on the Conservative line. Dougherty’s application for an additional party line was dismissed by the Commissioners of the Board of Elections.
This past Septemeber it was another eventful primary for our region with Dougherty narrowly defeating Jim Szczesniak on the Republican line by 160 votes and then Szczesniak and Dougherty landing in a tie on the Conservative line. The Livingston County Conservative Committee voted to support Szczesniak, breaking the tie and sending his campaign through to November.
According to the Board of Elections, during General Elections there are 61 voting districts in the County, some of which are located at the same polling location.
It’s going to be a long day for the Board of Elections and poll watchers, voting starts at 6.a.m. and runs until 9 p.m.
The machines are then transported to the headquarters in Geneseo where the unofficial results are then counted. In some cases results can be phoned in.
The sample ballots are likely to be available this Friday.
