Ninety Year Old Grandmother is First UK Resident To Get Vaccine

 

Two days ago Great Britain took the first possible big step towards ending this world-wide COVID-19 plague when a 90-year received her vaccine at University Hospital Coventry at 6:31 a.m, Great Britain time.

Grandmother Margaret  Keenan told the Associated Press “It’s the best early birthday present I could wish for because it means I can finally look forward to spending time with my family and friends in the New Year after being on my own for most of the year.” .

Ms Keenan, stating that she feels “so privileged to be the first person vaccinated against COVID-19,  is the first of 800,000 which  the UK plans to administer for people over 80.  Others will have to likely wait until next year as the UK gets more doses of the vaccine.

The  Pfizer and BioNTec vaccine is currently being  considered by other countries, including the United States.

“I think there’s every chance that we will look back on … (Tuesday) as marking a decisive turning point in the battle against coronavirus,” said Simon Stevens, the CEO of England’s National Health Service.
