According to a press release from Geneseo Police Chief Eric Osganian, none of the break-ins are connected to each other, and some of the incidents involved residences that were left unlocked.
“It is kind of scary, since the residents were home during these break-ins and called us,” said Chief Osganian. “The Geneseo Police Department would like to remind all residents to keep their doors, windows, and vehicles locked, and to have a ‘lock before you leave’ mentality.”
Sergeant Dana Carson arrested Matthew Koval, 21, of Victor, for Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree on Main Street. Allegedly, Koval entered and remained unlawfully in a residence on Main Street. He was arraigned in Geneseo Village Court, where he was apparently disrespectful to the courtroom and to Village Justice Thomas Bushnell, meriting an increase in his bail amount. Koval was remanded to the Livingston County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.
Officer Travis Lana arrested Richard Ely, age 22, of Batavia, for Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree on Main Street.
