LIVINGSTON COUNTY — The New Year starts off with a new look for Livingston County.
On Friday, Sheriff Tom Dougherty will be ceremoniously sworn in on as the Livingston County’s 50th Sheriff. The event is open to the public and will be held at the Genesee River Hotel in Mount Morris at 5:00 p.m. The event will be broadcasted live at the GeneseeSun.com. The new Sheriff and his choice for Undersheriff, Matt Bean, have already taken over the department.
This afternoon, the Livingston County Board of Supervisors will make a weighted vote to determine the next Chairman of the Board, as James Merrick from Groveland is Retired.

The leading candidates are Eric Gott from Livonia and Will Wadsworth from Geneseo. The winner will be selected in a weighted vote from the other Board of Supervisors. The Chairman position is a very powerful position, where they choose all committee chairs. Eric Gott was very active in last year’s District Attorney Race where he campaigned for Steve Sessler as well as his public support for Sheriff Tom Dougherty. Will Wadsworth has stayed quiet through the recent races.
