GENESEO — The Geneseo Town Board welcomed Bob Irwin as a new member of the planning board.
Irwin was appointed as the new member of the Planning Board for the Town of Geneseo. Of the two candidates, the Town Board chose Bob Irwin to fill the Planning Board Vacancy. He will hold this position through December 31st, 2017.
“We need somebody who has construction background. We need somebody who has farming background,” said Deputy Town Supervisor, Roberta Irwin. “We need somebody who is an expert in all these areas.”
After much discussion between the board members about the application process and the candidate, Irwin was appointed to this position, Kathy Trainor was the other option.
The board decided in the future, every available non-elected position vacancy will be advertised to the community such as for the Architectural Review Board, ZBA, and Planning Board. This will replace the previous process word of mouth advertising.
“Going forward, now, that’s the right way to do it,” said Town Supervisor, Will Wadsworth, “the Town clerk will advertise the position.”
At the end of the meeting, Jean Bennett was asked to post the position for the ZBA. Be on the look out for the advertisement if this position is of interest t you, or contact Ms. Bennett for more information on the application process.
