Nation’s Largest Mattress Maker Heading For “The Big Sleep”

Serta Simmons, which controls almost half the country’s mattresses may rest forever after 150 of operations.

A couple of well known “vulture firms” are looking at the company which is running so low on cash flow that its stock is below 50 cents a share.

The old saying that one does not buy until there is “blood in the streets,” may apply here since the various state governments have shut down their stores.  Like many recently bankrupted companies such as the fabled Neiman Marcus they are deep in the red trying to float with massive debt payments.

Because of that debt some observers on Wall Street believe it will not be able to offer retail prices that are competitive with their rivals.  This will further increase the likely possibility of a buy-out, takeover and/or bankruptcy.
