Grimes Glen in Naples, part of the Ontario County Parks system, is temporarily closed. Grimes Glen was made part of the Ontario county Park system in 2008, although visitors have enjoyed the waterfalls and creek bed for generations.
The closure is the result of an accident caused by a falling rock. Four-year-old Quincy Wilson was swimming in a natural pool when he was hit by a falling rock, causing a serious head injury. He was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital, and was admitted to the intensive care unit
According to the Ontario County Parks website, all trails, picnic areas, and parking lots are included in the closure. Officials urged people not to go to the glen until it has been “checked out” and any possible hazards corrected. The closure was listed as “temporary” and visitors can check back on the website to see when it reopens at https://www.co.ontario.ny.us/Facilities/Facility/Details/Grimes-Glen-Park-11.
