Yesterday the Mustangs traveled to Bath for their LCAA Championship Meet and did not disappoint! With no rest the girls dove into the pool and like always they stepped up!
Dansville had 7 personal bests and 6 in season bests!
The meet started with Ella Frazer, Abby Kendall, Kaitlyn Lee, and Kierston Pearson swimming to a 6th place finish in the 200 Medley Relay dropping over 2 second from this year’s best.
Immediately after that event Ella Frazer gets back up on the blocks for the 200 Free and drops an in season best to become this year’s LCAA 200 Freestyle Champion stopping the clock with a time of 2:10.70. Hayden Scollon also swam to a personal best in the 200 Free moving up 2 spots and dropping almost 3 seconds finishing with a time of 2:26.55.
Our Freshmen freestylers had a great swim in a stacked 50 free event this year. Kiersten Pearson, Cynthia Forrester, and Michele Zepkowski swam to a 16th, 20th, and 24th place finish.
Diving had Dansvilles veteran diver Abby Kendall leading the way with almost a 30 point improvement on her personal best scoring 286.90 points and finishing 5th. With only one appearance on the board under her belt. Cynthina Forrester shined as she successfully took on an 11 dive list in just over a week and ended up finishing 8th overall.
Kaitlyn Lee and Abby Kendall took on the 100 Fly and also dropped an in season and personal best respectively finishing 2nd and 7th. Freshman Kiersten Pearson held her own in the 100 Free swimming to a 17th place finish with a time of 1:12.67.
Distance freestylers Ella Frazer and Haidyn Scollon made Dansville proud with two great swims in the 500 Freestyle resulting in and in season best for Frazer and a 2nd place finish as well as a personal best for Scollon dropping 11 seconds moving her into 10th place.
The up and coming freshman and sophomore swimmers had their time to shine in the 200 Free Relay. The quartet of Cynthia Forrester (FR), Michele Zepkowski (FR), Kierston Pearson (FR), and Haidyn Scollon (SO) dropped over 10 seconds from the last time the four swam together and finished in the top 10.
The 100 Backstroke was yet another race Dansville stood out in! Always looking to do what is best for the team, Kaitlyn Lee took on the 100 Back this year and has quickly become one of the sections top swimmers in that event. Lee’s 2nd place finish in the event by only .07 seconds has her excited for that chance to race with the fastest the section has in a few weeks at sectionals. Michele Zepkowski also had a race to remember in the 100 Back. Not wanting to be left out she qualified for sectionals in the event. This final sectional cut gives Dansville the right to take the entire team to sectionals in at least one individual event which is an accomplishment that very few if any other teams have done in the past.
Dansville’s 400 Free Relay ended the meet in a positive way with a 2nd place finish and yet another in season best.
