The Livingston County Drug Task Force reports the arrest of a Mount Morris resident on multiple felony charges following an investigation into cocaine sales in the Town of Mount Morris.
Carlos E. Carballo-Rivera, age 31 from Mount Morris NY, was arrested on March 30th, 2023 by members of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office. Carballo-Rivera was charged with four counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (class B felonies) and four counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (class B felonies).
Carballo-Rivera was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney’s Office was contacted in regards to bail due to the felony level charges. It was recommended that Carballo-Rivera be released on his own recognizance as the charges did not qualify for a Judge to set bail under the NYS Bail Reform.
Carballo-Rivera was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Avon Justice Hoffman. The Judge did release Carballo-Rivera on his own recognizance per the law. Carballo-Rivera is scheduled to appear in the Town of Mount Morris court at a later date for additional proceedings.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office was present and represented Carballo-Rivera at the court arraignment for his defense. The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office was notified but did not appear to represent the people.
The Livingston County Drug Task Force is comprised of members of the following agencies, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the Avon Police Department, the Caledonia Police Department, the Geneseo Police Department, the Dansville Police Department, the Mount Morris Police Department, the Nunda Police Department, the State University of Police at Geneseo, and the Livingston County District Attorney’s Office.
