On Nov. 13, Mount Morris resident Missy Potter was named The Arc of New York’s 2018 Self Advocate of the Year, an honor reserved for an individual using Arc services to benefit others.
“Missy Potter is an everyday hero in our local community,” The Arc of Livingston-Wyoming stated. “She receives services at The Arc, but she is also a staff employee, focused on the safety and well being of children on our fleet of buses.”
Potter works in The Arc’s Transportation department as a 1:1 bus aide for disabled children, including some on the autism spectrum. She also volunteers with Kiwanis Club of Mount Morris, Girl Scouts of America, cheerleading, and Mount Morris School.
“I just love kids,” Potter said. “They are my favorite part of my job and my favorite people to be with.”
