MOUNT MORRIS: Frank Cassata, 49, of Mt. Morris, was sentenced to 25 years to life for his role in the death of 3-year-old Amir Pallet on Lyell Avenue, Rochester on June 18, 2018. In January, Cassata was convicted of second degree murder, vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an
accident causing death, and drunken driving. The charges stem from the June incident in which Cassata, in an argument with people on Lyell Ave., drove his vehicle onto a lawn attempting to hit the person he was having a confrontation with, but he hit 3-year-old Amir Pallet and his aunt instead. Young Pallet died shortly after, and his aunt sustained injuries also.

Sandra Doorley, the Monroe County District Attorney said in a statement, “we don’t refer to accidents from a DWI as mistakes, we call them crimes. The death of Amir Pallet was a completely avoidable tragedy that we will never forget. Frank Cassata will now have the rest of his life
in the New York State Department of Corrections to contemplate his actions.”
