LEICESTER – The motorcyclist who suffered severe injuries after losing control of his vehicle at high-speed at the Empire Dragway is at Strong Memorial Hospital in satisfactory condition.
Strong Memorial Hospital staff said that Joshua Costa, 34, of Retsof, is in ‘satisfactory condition,’ meaning that though he is uncomfortable, vital signs are stable and overall outlook looks good.
According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, the Livingston County 911 Center received a call of a motorcycle crash at Empire Dragway at about 9:14 p.m.Saturday night.
Responding deputies learned that Costa, was competing on the track when he lost control of his motorcycle while traveling at approximately 150 miles per hour.
Costa suffered severe injuries and was transported via Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Firefighters with the Leicester Fire Department and Cuylerville Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene, along with ambulance crews with Livingston County EMS. Handling the investigation for the Sheriff’s Office were Deputy Martin Herkimer, Deputy Brandan Flickner, Deputy Caleb Cutting (Forensic Identification Unit) and Sgt. Matt Orman.
