SPRINGWATER – A Springwater man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly breaking into a farm and stealing milk.
According to a press release from Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Lawrence Block, 52, was charged with felony Burglary in the Third Degree and misdemeanor Petit Larceny.
On Jan. 26, a Springwater farmer called the Sheriff’s Office reporting stolen milk from his milk parlor. A milk parlor is a specialized area on the dairy farm where the milking process is performed.
Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Patterson responded to the farm for the burglary investigation. It was learned and alleged through the investigation that Block entered the milking parlor during closed hours and stole milk.
The owners of the farm said that they had suspected someone was taking milk and installed a trail camera inside the milk parlor. Police said that the trail cam helped deputies identify Block as their suspect.
Block was held at the Livingston County Jail awaiting an arraignment. Block was arraigned Wednesday in Springwater Town Court and held on $1500 cash or $3,000 bond.
Assisting in the investigation was Sergeant Joseph Breu, Sheriff’s Investigator Gene Chichester of the Criminal Investigation Division and Sheriff’s Deputy Matthew Moran of the Forensic Identification Unit.
