LIVINGSTON COUNTY — Livingston County Conservative Party Chair Jason McGuire stated that party members have voiced concerns over their votes not being counted on their party line and are inquiring about the potential for a new primary.
The Livingston County Board of Election has confirmed that votes cast in yesterday’s Livingston County Sheriff’s Republican and Conservative primaries had miscount votes included in the unofficial totals.
According to Nancy Leven, Commissioner with the Board of Elections, they were notified on election day, by two different election inspectors, that they had accidentally issued a Conservative Party ballot to some Republican voters. Leven stated that 50 ballots were cast towards the Conservative line at the Morgan Estates polling location in Geneseo that should have been counted toward the Republican total. The same mistake was made with 9 ballots in Caledonia.
The Conservative Primary ended with Jim Szczesniak leading Tom Dougherty by 1 vote, with 3 absentee ballots still outstanding. If the absentee ballots are received with a qualifying post mark date then they could be still counted.
