CALEDONIA – The elderly Avon resident who has been reported as missing for over six days was found in fair condition near the greenway near River Road Sunday morning.
A press release from Avon Police Chief Gary Benedict formally called off the search for Donald Farrell, 70, at 10:44 a.m. on Sunday.
“At 8:53 am this morning Mr. Farrell was located in a wooded area off of River Rd. in the Town of Caledonia by searchers,” said Chief Benedict. “Mr. Farrell was found in fair condition and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Caledonia’s ambulance to be treated for exposure.”
A Livingston County Sheriff’s Office dive team was thoroughly checking the area near the Rte. 20 bridge over the Genesee River between Avon and Caledonia at about 3 p.m. on Friday.
Many local law enforcement and emergency departments have participated in the search, including the Avon Fire Department, Livingston County Sheriff’s Office dive teams, Massasauga Search and Rescue Teams, Avon Police, Avon Ambulance, York Fire Department, Geneseo Fire and Ambulance, and Livingston County Emergency Services.
