Road Extension Proposal Gathers Speed in Geneseo

GENESEO – A proposed road extension in Geneseo is in its final stages of planning and will likely begin by the end of the summer.

County Administrator Ian Coyle said on Tuesday that the proposal is to extend Millennium Drive until it intersects Veteran Drive near Subway. With solid support from the Village of Geneseo, the main focus now is on logistics.

“As far as actual work is concerned, there are a couple of steps we still need to take,” said Coyle, “For one, there may be a developer who is interested in the same plot of land that we are. But the plan is definitely in the works.”

Village of Geneseo Mayor Richard Hatheway and Village Trustees said that they support the project as it stands at their board meeting Monday night.

The extended Millennium Drive would allow traffic to move smoothly to and from the Town Hall Plaza onto Veteran drive and Lakeville Road. The plaza includes the Town Hall and Federal Credit Union.
