GENESEO — The SUNY Geneseo men’s hockey team played their first game in 2017 with a tie against Elmira on Saturday night.
The game was scoreless until Ice Knight Andrew Romano scored at the 7:42 mark of the second period. The goal came on a rebound off a shot from Conlan Keenan. Elmira would answer with two goals to take a 2-1 lead with just under seven minutes remaining in the second frame. Keenan tied the game shortly thereafter and that is how the game would end. Geneseo outshot Elmira 46-28 but could not find a way to win.
The tie was the Knights’ second of the season who are now 9-2-2 and Elmira is 5-8-1.
Geneseo will be back in action when they host Lebanon Valley next Friday.
