SPRINGWATER – Two residents of an Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRA) home in Springwater were arrested on Monday for allegdly planning to kidnap and sexually assault workers at the IRA home and a Livingston County employee.
According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, a Sheriff’s Office investigation based on information obtained by employees at the home led to the arrest of Robert Bentley, 26 and Matthew Bateman, 23, for Conspiracy in the Second Degree, a class B Felony.
Both were arraigned in the Town of Springwater Court and remanded to the Livingston County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
Bentley was convicted of Possessing Sexual Performance By Child, an E felony, in June of 2014 and was sentenced to 10 years of probation as part of that conviction. Bentley is registered with the NYS Sex Offender Registry.
Bateman is currently on probation in Livingston County.
