LIVINGSTON COUNTY — A new era has begun in Livingston County as Greg McCaffrey was sworn in Monday as District Attorney.
McCaffrey, a Democrat originally appointed by Gov. Cuomo, was elected to the position this past November in a victory over Republicans Eric Schiener and Steve Sessler, with Sessler running as a Conservative. McCaffrey was sworn in by Livingston County Judge Robert Wiggins.
“Because of my father, I always wanted to be a part of the criminal justice system,” said McCaffrey. “It is truly an honor to be your elected District Attorney and I look forward to serving the community.”
Among the dignitaries packing the courtroom for the swearing-in ceremony were Justices Wesley and Odorisi and Sherriff York.
McCaffrey expressed a special note of gratitude to the late J. Michael Jones, from the law firm of Jones and Skivington, who served as his mentor during his professional career.
McCaffrey was sworn in on a family bible belonging to Beth Hayes, his wife.
