Elim Bible emerged as the winner while racers and their crews plowed through several ‘bumps in the road’ in order to win the bed races.
“The purpose of the race is fun” said Natalie Luft, Coordinator for the bed races.
Four teams raced including Elim Bible Institute, The Lima Senior’s Club, The Dougherty Campaign, and Uncle Dave’s Upper Deck Bar.
Despite the Upper Deck Bar having been undefeated for three years prior, Elim Bible Institute took took home the first place ribbons.
“We’ve won second place for the last two years so it was nice to win first this year,” said Kelly Franke, rider in Elim Bible’s bed car.
The Dougherty Campaign came in second place, followed by Uncle Dave’s Upper Deck Bar.
Though the Lima Senior’s Club came in fourth, they received the certificate of “Most Unique Bed Car” with their theme of ‘Little old lady who lived in a shoe.’
Other highlights of the festival included free children’s activities such as a petting zoo, a bounce house and face painting.
