GENESEO — A Geneseo resident was arrested on a felony charge by the Geneseo Police Department after he allegedly threatened bar patrons with a knife, took off, and was later found by a K9 tracking dog at his residence in the village.
According to a press release from Geneseo Police Chief Eric Osganian, Steven Davis, 43, was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a D felony, and Menacing, an A misdemeanor, on Nov. 11.
Allegedly, there was an altercation at a bar in the Village of Geneseo, during which Davis threatened other patrons with a knife, but left the scene when the police were called. No one was injured during the incident.
Geneseo Police, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, and State Police all arrived at the scene at about 1 a.m. A State Police K9 tracked Davis back to his residence in the village, where he was arrested by Geneseo Police.
Since Davis has a prior conviction for Menacing in 2007 from the Town of Irondequoit, NY, he was charged with felony Criminal Possession of a Weapon rather than a misdemeanor.
Davis was apprehended and arraigned in front of Geneseo Justice Thomas Bushnell. The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office recommended that Davis be remanded to the county jail on $3,000 cash or $6,000 bond. Justice Bushnell released Davis on his own recognizance.
Davis will return to Geneseo Village court at a later date.
