LIVONIA – A York man was arrested on Sunday after allegedly striking a parked car in Vitale Park and attempting to back out of the situation with Sheriff’s Deputies standing right next to his truck.
According to a press release from Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Chase McDonald, 31, was arrested for Aggravated DWI, Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree, and Open Container.
On July 26, 2015 at approximately 7:25 p.m. Sheriff’s Office patrols were dispatched to Vitale Park on Conesus Lake, Town of Livonia for the reported minor motor vehicle accident. During the initial investigation it was determined that McDonald had struck a parked vehicle in the parking lot.
Deputies were interviewing all subjects when McDonald attempted to back his truck out of the parking lot with a Deputy Sheriff standing at the open passenger door. Deputy Shawn Whitford was able to place the vehicle in park, and with assistance of further LCSO patrols, McDonald was taken into custody. McDonald was transported to the Sheriff’s Office for processing, where agreed to take a breath test. The reported BAC was .23%.
McDonald was arraigned in the Town of Livonia Court and remanded to the Livingston County Jail on $200 cash bail or $400 secured bond.
Investigating at the scene was Deputy Michael Wade, Deputy Michael Williams, Deputy Shawn Whitford and Sergeant Joseph Zambito.
