SPRINGWATER – A young man was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny after investigators claim that he swiped cash and pawned diamonds that belonged to his girlfriend’s mom who is battling cancer.
According to Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Kyle McAndrew, 22, was the boyfriend of the victim’s daughter. He offered to stay with and help take care of his girlfriend’s mother, who suffers from cancer, and allegedly stole money and two valuable diamond rings that he then pawned at a local jewelry store.
The Sheriff said that the victim called the Sheriff’s Office saying that items were missing from her home, and an investigation revealed that McAndrew had allegedly stolen more than $7,000 in cash and jewelry.
McAndrew was arrested on Grand Larceny 4th charges and arraigned in Springwater Town Court. McAndrew was remanded to the custody of the Sheriff and is being held in the Livingston County Jail on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
Sheriff’s Investigator Gene Chichester handled the investigation and arrest. Assisting with the investigation were Deputy Bob Holt and Deputy Kevin Barrett of the Sheriff’s Office, and the Allegany County Probation Department.
