LIVONIA – Tinkers, artists and the innately curious are called to join the ‘Makacademy’ to put their hands on high-tech tools and resources.
According to a press release from Makacademy, members at their facility have access to equipment and training on tools like 3-D printers, STEM toys, metal and woodworking machines, computer equipment for coding and hacking, pottery and arts equipment, embroidery and many others. Their classroom offerings include classes on marketing, incorporating, investing, coding, cyber security, welding, machining , pottery, painting, sewing, CAD, personal finance, banking, and ‘anything else you can think of.’
“Makacademy is a space for people of all ages to make or create anything and everything with people and infrastructure to foster that development,” said the press release. “Our space includes or will soon include our business incubator offerings for entrepreneurs include space for you to develop your idea or product, coaching and consultation on best paths to market, business organization, marketing assistance, financing and even a retail space for you to launch your products. Whether you are a crafter looking to hone your skills or a coder that wants to launch an app or someone looking to launch a new product or anything in-between, we can help.”
Memberships are $65 per month for an ‘adult’ and $90 per month for a ‘family.’
Makacademy offerings for school age children include everything from basic and advanced equipment training and usage to homework tutoring to simple play space using building tools and even makerspace birthday parties where children can actually make something to bring home. They will be offering ‘Make Your Own Christmas Presents’ courses and hosting mini-camps for kids to spend some of their time over school breaks at the Makacademy.
“We look forward to bringing out the dreamer, creator and entrepreneur in all of us!” said the press release. “The space and equipment is available to members for a small monthly membership fee that includes reduced pricing on classes. All classes and other events are available to the public for a small fee on a pre-registration basis.”
