LIVINGSTON COUNTY – A convicted rapist could spend a lot longer in state prison now that a weapon, two combination locks tied in a sock, was discovered in his cell.

Leslie Cray, 44, has been in prison since September 1991 for Sodomy in the First Degree, Rape in the First Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm in the First Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree for crimes that occurred in Erie County.
Cray is now charged with Promoting Prison Contraband in the First Degree, and Assistant District Attorney Victor Rowcliffe has offered him another 1 1/2 to 3 years in prison.
Cray was originally held at a prison facility in Livingston County, and that is where the contraband was allegedly found.
After the contraband allegations came to light, Cray was relocated to Bare Hill Correctional Facility.
According to the Department of Corrections, Cray was up for a parole hearing in September of 2015.
