GENESEO – The following is adapted from an obituary published by Rector-Hicks Funeral Home:
Thomas J. Linsner, 70, of North Road in Piffard, formerly of Geneseo, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2016 at his residence.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Tammy, and his parents, Melvin and Jane Linsner.
He is survived by his wife, Betsy Linsner, his children, Brian (Laura) Linsner of Fredericksburg, VA, Janna (Terry) O’Brien of Geneseo, Brian Augustus of Mt. Morris, his grandchildren, Cyrus and Walter Linsner of Fredericksburg, VA Teagan, Kellen and Garren O’Brien of Geneseo, his brother, Sam (Margaret) Linsner of Livonia, several nieces and nephews.
Tom was born March 5, 1946 in Rochester, NY the son of Melvin E. and Jane Robinson Linsner. He was a Graduate of Geneseo High School class of 1964. He was an active and longtime member of the Geneseo Fire Department. Tom joined the department in August of 1970 and in less than two years was promoted to Captain. He served as Fire Chief from 1976 to 1978 and again from 1985 to 1987. Tom was the last Chief to serve while operating the Main St. and Highland Road firehouses. Since 1970 he has also held the office of Treasurer and was on the Fire Council. He was well known throughout the farming community having worked for both the Bickford Farm in Caledonia and the Rice Farm in Geneseo. Tom was also employed by the Village of Geneseo at their Wastewater Treatment Plant, the Town of Geneseo Highway Department, the Geneseo Central School District Transportation Department, Temple Hill Cemetery in Geneseo and Sweeteners Plus in Lakeville. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family.
Friends may call Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main Street in Geneseo. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Christ Community Church, 26 Center Street in Geneseo with Pastor Mike Smith officiating. Private interment will be in Temple Hill Cemetery in Geneseo.
