LIVONIA – Town Justice David Mahoney resigned from office effective Sept. 30, 2016.
According to Livonia Town Clerk Colleen West Hay, Mahoney’s letter was brief and did not indicate a reason for leaving the bench.
“Judge Mahoney did file a letter of resignation with my office,” said Hay. “He said that he is resigning effective September 30.”
Hay said that this was all that was contained in the letter.
Complicating matters, Mahoney is the unopposed Republican candidate for Livonia Town Justice for the Nov. 8 election. He beat Republican challenger Jack Brown at the Republican primary in July.
All cases in Livonia Town Court are now being handled by the one remaining judge, Justice Robert Lemmen.
