LIVONIA – Chilly runners had warm hearts at a rainy Thanksgiving Thursday Livonia Turkey Trot, which collected a trailer-load of canned food for the food pantry.
The race, now nationally certified, comes courtesy of the Friends of Livonia Education Foundation, Livonia Central School District and the Village of Livonia. There were 487 runners and walkers signed up for Wednesday’s race, which follows 3.4 miles on and around the grounds of Livonia Central.
Paul Rellstab of Geneseo, Dave Herbert of Honeoye Falls and Dave Coyne of Avon finished as the top three.
Geneseo’s Catherine Staley, 9, finished as the third female and 21st overall. Staley is headed to the Junior Olympics on Dec. 10 in Alabama.

Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputies and members of the Livonia Fire Department followed the last walkers to the finish. Livonia EMS stood by at the finish.
In keeping with tradition, there was also a one-mile kids fun run.
The race and food drive is now in its seventh year.
