The Livonia Town Board voted to send a copy of their proposed new laws on solar farms battery storage facilities to the Livingston County Planning Board for their comments and advice on the proposed new law.
The board also agreed to hold public hearings on the proposed laws, probably in September, when the board will again be meeting at the Livonia Town Hall, rather than while on the summer schedule, where meetings are scheduled in town parks.
The catalyst in writing more specific laws concerning these types of facilities is the recent installation of two such small facilities in Geneseo and Avon, to guard against future problems and massive loss of good farmland to these new facilities, which are becoming more popular. Current law is silent on some specific items which are of concern in new installations.
The laws are in preliminary stage and cannot be passed until after comment by the Livingston County planning board, as well as public hearings. Copies of what is being proposed is available at the town clerk’s office.
