Lima: Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a resident of Livonia for Felony Criminal Contempt charges after an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office. On June 28, 2019 at approximately 6:30am, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an address on South Lima Road in the Town of Lima for a possible domestic disturbance.
Responding Deputies located suspect, 63 year old Russell H. Maurer driving down the road on a lawn tractor. The investigation revealed that Maurer went to the residence on South Lima Road and began throwing items out of a barn on the property and was arguing with the
resident. It was also determined that Maurer had an active court issued Order of Protection against him, where the resident was the protected party. The Judge ordered a complete stay away from the protected party in the Order of Protection. Maurer was arrested and charged with Felony Criminal Contempt in the 1st degree. The arrest was a Felony as Maurer had a previous conviction on August 14, 2018.
Maurer was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney’s Office was contacted in regards to bail due to the Felony level charge. It was recommended that Maurer be held on
$2,000 cash or $4,000 bond.
Investigating the incident for the Sheriff’s Office was Sergeant Joseph Breu, Deputy Martin Herkimer and Deputy Kevin Barrett.
