Both teams had very fast paced offenses in the beginning of the game primarily due to heavy defensive pressure that lasted throughout the first half. The Bulldogs were originally struggling to stop the ball in the paint, but were able to make defensive adjustments on the Red Raiders Center Chantra Milliner who finished with a total of 23 points.
“We were able to double up their best player in the second half and really were able to give her a lot of different looks defensively,” said Head Coach Karen Schuster. “This was a hard fought game and both teams truly played with a lot of heart.”
In the second half of the game, the Bulldogs slowed down the pace and were able to strategically move the ball inside to the basket. Bulldogs guard Molly Stewart lead the offense with a total of 20 points and was lights out when driving to the paint.
The Bulldogs were only up by 4 when entering the fourth quarter but were able to finish the game strong by converting clutch free throws to secure the win.
The Bulldogs look to continue their success in the next round as the Section V Tournament continues.
