PAY RANGE: $16.81-$22.65.
LOCATION: Livingston County Department of Motor Vehicles-Geneseo/Dansville, NY
DUTIES: This position involves responsibility for determining eligibility of drivers’ licenses and
vehicle registration through a review of the applications and a variety of supporting
documents, and for processing various types of transactions related to the licensing of
drivers of motor vehicles and applications for vehicle registrations. The work is
performed under general supervision with supervisory employees deciding questions of
an unusual nature. Supervision of others is not a responsibility of this class. Employees
will be assigned to work in satellite office. A Motor Vehicle Clerk does related work as
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must meet the following requirements to be approved to take the exam:
Residency – Candidates must have been legal residents of the following jurisdiction(s) for at least four months
immediately preceding the date of the written test:
Livingston County, or
One of the following Counties: Allegany, Genesee, Monroe, Ontario, Steuben or
General Qualifications –
Applicants must meet all requirements described in the following table in order to be approved for examination

Training/Education Graduation from high school or possession of a high school
General experience One year of full-time, paid clerical experience, involving the
use of a computer or computer related equipment.

License/Certification None required.

Part-time service will be given prorated credit toward experience requirements.
Special Qualifications –
1.) Applicants must be United States citizens.
2.) Prior to appointment, applicants must submit to criminal history background check(s) as required to be
eligible to process REAL and Enhanced drivers’ licenses and as otherwise deemed necessary by the
appointing authority. This will require applicants to be fingerprinted and execute any necessary
releases, etc. Applicants must not have any disqualifying criminal offenses.
3.) Prior to appointment, applicants must consent to and provide necessary information to the appointing
authority to enable it to do reference check(s) as required to be eligible to process REAL and Enhanced
drivers’ licenses and as otherwise deemed necessary by the appointing authority.

(1) A fully completed Livingston County Application for Examination or
(2) The exam fee or waiver request.
