GENESEO – SUNY Geneseo student athletes and Livingston Lanes and Pub on South Street in the Village are teaming up to raise money for the families of Kelsey Annese and Matthew Hutchinson, two of the young people who lost their lives at 18 Wadsworth Street on Jan. 17.
According to Drew Madarasz, a student athlete at Geneseo who is working with Livingston Lanes through the Adopt a Business Program, the College’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is heading the effort and many sports teams and Greek organizations have expressed a strong interest in getting involved.
“Though I did not know Matt and Kelsey personally, the stories I heard about these amazing people made me eager to do something to help those who were affected directly,” said Madarasz.
Tickets will cost $6 per person per game of bowling, which includes the cost of shoe rental. Half of all proceeds will go directly to the Annese and Hutchinson families.
Madarasz first brought up the idea of a fundraiser to the staff at Livingston Lanes and then to SAAC. The idea has generated strong support from all.
The fundraiser will run on Feb. 21 from noon to 7 p.m. at Livingston Lanes and Pub at 4260 Lakeville Road Geneseo.
The event is still in its planning stages. Continue to follow the GeneseeSun.com as more details become available.
