LIVINGSTON COUNTY – An epic campaign season has come to a close and voters across the county are flocking to the booths to cast their votes.
Across the county, voter turnout is high. At about 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Geneseo, over 300 voters cast their ballots. Sparta’s polling place logged 257 voters by 11 a.m., and reporters saw a steady stream of others coming in. York’s polling place for Retsof, Linwood, Greigsville, Piffard, and Wadsworth logged 688 as of about 11:30 a.m.
“At a quarter to 6 people were standing in line to vote,” said Maxine Flint at York. “This is really the first lull that we’ve had all day.
During the Village of Geneseo election in March 2016, SUNY Geneseo students came out in record numbers. So many students registered to vote that the campus needs a temporary polling place at Kuhl Gym, which has logged 290 voters as of noon.
“We still have a long day,” said Eddie Lee at Kuhl Gym.
The Board of Elections received over 1,400 absentee ballots for this election.
