LIVINGSTON COUNTY TOWN COURTS PARTIALLY REOPEN

 

Town courts in Livingston County reopened on March 1, to handle criminal and vehicle traffic tickets only. However, in person arraignments for Vehicle and Traffic Misdemeanors and Penal Law charges are held based on request from either the District Attorney or Defense Counsel.  All current safety measures and PPE protocols must be followed in town courts.

The town courts in the 7^th judicial district have been suspended for months due to Covid restrictions. People with traffic tickets, even since last fall, were given tickets with “date to be determined”, waiting for courts to reopen.

Court clerks are generally still “manning”  the court clerk offices and can be reached by telephone to answer questions.

Civil matters, such as evictions and small claims will not be heard until later in the year, probably beginning May 1.
