LIVINGSTON COUNTY – The entrance to the historic courthouse in Geneseo is about to receive a major security boost, courtesy of Livingston County.
The Livingston County Board of Supervisors has approved a project to hone the already impressive and fully accredited security features at the courthouse, which will include installing bullet-proof glass in its entrance vestibule.
The Board of Supervisors formally awarded the project to Kircher Construction of Mount Morris for $149,800.
John Driscoll, Supervisor of County Facilities, added that the project will not alter the courthouse from its original 1898 design.
The courthouse already features some of the best available security features and technology.
Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputies with court security applied for and received a grant for a new, cutting-edge metal detector in 2015.
In 2000, the courthouse underwent $77,000 in renovations, which also included security updates.
