GENESEO – A Wellsburg resident was arrested on Friday for allegedly driving while ability impaired by cannabis.
According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty, Dustin Strope, 27, was arrested for misdemeanor DWAI Drugs as part of Operation Safe Interstate on I-390.

On Jan. 8 at about 8:14 p.m. Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Flickner of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office STOP DWI Unit conducted a traffic stop on 390 south in the Town of Geneseo for a traffic violation.
The operator was identified as Strope and the Deputy observed signs that led him to believe Strope may be operating the motor vehicle in an impaired condition. Subsequently, Strope took roadside field sobriety tests, which led to the Strope’s arrest.
Strope was transported to Sheriff’s Office headquarters for further evaluation. At the conclusion of the drug evaluation, it was Deputy Flickner’s expert opinion as a certified Drug Recognition Expert that Strope’s ability to operate a vehicle safely was impaired by cannabis.
Strope was held overnight for arraignment arraigned on Saturday the of Jan. 9 in Geneseo Town Court before Justice Kathleen Houston who released Strope on his own recognizance and he will appear back in Geneseo Town Court on January 27.
