Livingston County Sheriff’s Office First in NYS to Use GPS Chase Technology

LIVINGSTON COUNTY – The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office will be the first in New York State to use StarChase devices to lower pursuit speeds.

The Sheriff’s Office will soon give a demonstration to the media to show how the device works.

StarChase.com explains that the device is a compressed-air launcher, mounted behind the grille of a police cruiser, that uses a laser to target the fleeing vehicle and attach a GPS tag.

Dispatch then tracks the vehicle’s location and movements and dispatches law enforcement to intercept the vehicle.
