LIMA — Sheriff John M. York of Livingston County was recognized Sunday as the recipient of the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Law Enforcement Award.
Members of the Kenneth B. Keating VFW Post 26 recognized York, a 44-year veteran of the police force, for his courageous, devoted and selfless service to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
The National Law Enforcement Award honors York’s exemplary and outstanding record of national and community service, as well as his record of illustrating the core values and traditions of the law enforcement profession.
“I am honored to be recognized by people the quality of the VFW,” said York. “They are the people that give us the freedom we have today, and to be recognized by them is a real honor.”
