Alexis Coleman of Livonia was the recent recipient of an award presented to her by Sheriff Tom Dougherty for excellence in academic achievement in the criminal justice field. The award carries with it a scholarship.
Coleman was nominated for the award by the criminal justice faculty at Genesee Community College, which she has attended for a year and a half, and continues this semester. After GCC, Coleman plans to continue her studies toward a degree in criminal forensics at SUNY Brockport.
Coleman, formerly of York, but now living in Livonia, is the daughter of Brandy and William VanZandt of Livonia.
