The Livingston County Board of Elections has posted for the public a notice declaring the forthcoming elections have been delayed until April 28. The original date the elections was supposed to be held is today, March 18.
Due to the coronavirus the towns of Avon, Caledonia, Geneseo, Leicester, Lima and Nunda will be effected.
Using the headline “Amid Covid -19 Pandemic, Governor Cuomo Issues Executive Order Delayi.ng Village Elections Statewide Until April 28 Primary” the Board of Elections quote the Governor as to the rationale for the delay.
“Public health officicals have been clear that reducing the density is one of the most effective ways to stop the spread and delaying village elections will help ensure poll workers and voters are not potentially exposed to the virus,” the Governor said.
