The last two rabies clinics for the year in Livingston County are scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 15 in Livonia, and Tuesday, Sept. 29 In Dansville.
The rabies clinics are free for cats, dogs, and ferrets, at least three months old. All cats and ferrets must be in a carrier, and all dogs must be leashed when arriving at the Livonia Town Barns on Sept. 15, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., or at Dansville’s Babcock Park on Morey Ave., from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on Sept. 29. Human attendees must wear masks.
Pre-registration is required, and those bringing 5 or more pets should make special arrangements by phone or e-mail. Those wishing to pre-register to have their pets vaccinated should call (585) 243-7280 (Livingston County Department of Health), e-mail sbennett@co.livingston.ny.us or register online at www.health.ny.gov/gotoclinic/26.
Those wishing to get a three-year certificate should bring with them proof of a prior rabies shot; otherwise, the certificate will only be for one year. All dogs must receive a rabies vaccination in order to be eligible for licensure by the town, and there is usually a fine for possession of an unlicensed dog.
