The Livingston County Drug Task Force reports the arrest of a Nunda woman following an investigation into the sale of prescription pain medication in the Nunda and Portage area.
Amber L. Garwood, age 28, was arrested on September 23, 2020 by members of the Livingston County Drug Task Force. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office charged Garwood on a Livingston County Superior Court indictment with four (4) counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (class B felonies) and four (4) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (also class B felonies).
The arrest and investigation by the Livingston County Drug Task Force alleges the sale of oxycodone in the Towns of Nunda and Portage. Garwood was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention, as the offenses did qualify for pre-arraignmentdetention under the NYS Justice Reform Act. However, the B Felony drug sale allegations do not qualify for a Judge to set bail in New York State but instead they must release.
Garwood was later arraigned on the indictment warrant in Livingston County Court by County Court Judge Jennifer Noto.
The Judge did release Garwood on her own recognizance (ROR) in accordance with the NYS Justice Reform Act. Garwood was provided a future court date and Deputies did release her from custody. The Livingston County Drug Task Force is comprised of members of the following agencies, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the Avon Police Department, the Caledonia Police
Department, the Geneseo Police Department, the Dansville Police Department, the Mount Morris Police Department, the Nunda Police Department and the Livingston County District Attorney’s Office.
