LIVINGSTON COUNTY – The Livingston County Ways and Means Committee unanimously voted in favor of a large-scale renovation and security improvement project for the headquarters of the Livingston County Department of Health on Murray Hill Drive.
All told, the approved contracts are for $804,400, to come from the County’s Capital Improvement Program, which is funding set aside for such large-scale projects. Projects are not only intended to give the department a new look but to improve security and enhance its electrical system, which County Administrator Ian Coyle says is currently working at capacity.
“We will begin renovations sometime within the next two months and anticipate completion by December of this year,” said Jennifer Rodriguez, Public Health Director for Livingston County. “We will be installing a proxy card access and system to allow for better security in and around the building. We will also be doing some electrical upgrades and give the lobby a new look. We will be expanding our handicap restroom access in order to better serve our clients.”
The project will go to the Livingston County Board of Supervisors on Wednesday for formal approval.
Contracts are all for first floor lobby and basement renovations: $390,000 to Kircher Construction for general construction; $87,000 to Aktor Corporation for asbestos abatement and demolition; $109,700 to Navalis Company dba Cogenic Material for mechanical construction; $49,200 to M.A. Ferraulio for plumbing construction; and $168,000 for electrical construction.
“We knew for a long time that this was coming and knew that it was going to be $750,000 to $1 million,” said Coyle. “This is part of a five-year plan and a project that will benefit Public Health. It’s one of the last significant projects planned for the Mount Morris facility.”
