According to an e-mail sent from Public Defender Lindsay P. Quintilone, to deal with the extra workload, each of the full-time attorneys will be adding on-call staffing of the CAP court to their duties, as well as hiring an additional full-time attorney to assist with CAP court arraignments and the additional caseload.
Quintilone also stated they intend to hire additional attorneys as the process unfolds.
The new agreement comes from a New York State mandate that arraignments take place with proper legal representation for those accused of crimes.
The agreement will be in effect starting June 4.
