Littleville culvert project nears completion

Avon– The Littleville culvert project has neared completion, and the detour should be removed by next week.

As of Thursday, the construct has been put into place, has been paved and is awaiting guard rails. It’s estimated that the project should be finished early in the first week of October.

Over the past month, the structure has been constructed off site, was transported and assembled on location. The culvert consists of 11 parts that were trucked in- five 20 ton pieces, four 10 ton pieces and two 6 ton parts.

The need for the new structure began about a year ago, when nearby resident Louis Lee noticed parts of the previous culvert falling away due to erosion. Posing as a potential safety hazard, the construct had to be replaced to ensure safe commuting.
