Geneseo held them off until the end of the first quarter, when a pivotal punt block that led to the first touchdown for the Lions, greatly affected the sway of the game.
“We’re still here, and we’re mostly freshmen and sophomores” says Assistant Coach Sciera of the Blue Devil’s when asked about the state of the varsity football team after a few major setbacks during the preseason.
Canisteo’s impressive rushing game allowed them to bring the Blue Devils offense to a screeching halt while their backfield was able to run up and down the field all night. Despite the Lion’s distinct advantage, Geneseo’s defensive line was able to hold strong and make multiple tackles in the backfield.
The Lions are now 1-1 and are eager to play at York next Friday, September 14.
